Nothing new here. Amsterdam hosts the world’s biggest dance event for the 22nd time already, the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). Expect a packed city – day and night – filled with the best national and international DJ’s, the best electronic music and art parties, and the most interesting conferences on the dance scene.

In 1995, Richard Zijlma and the organization Buma/Stemra decided to join forces and launch the first edition of ADE, Amsterdam Dance Event. It started out with only one day and one venue, a hotel on the Vijzelgracht. When the first edition turned out to be a great success, a second edition was on its way. The second edition, a year after the first, was expanded with a conference day at De Balie during the day, and several venues like Paradiso, Escape and Melkweg hosting about 30 performances in the evening. The nowadays known ADE Playground was added to the scene in 2011 and brought artistic culture to the event, consisting of a program focused on art, film and photography. To this day, Amsterdam Dance Event is still the biggest worldwide dance event, taking over the complete city for five days and nights. Over 200 stages are welcoming the most famous and yet to be discovered national and international artists. With over 350.000 visitors, ADE is one of the city’s largest events.

So obviously, you already planned your trip for ADE… right? In case you haven’t set eyes on where to go yet, this is our shortlist of faves. All in our beloved Amsterdam East.
