You couldn’t have missed the fact that Amsterdam is the ‘Gay Capital’ of Europe. And with that, comes a great festivity; Europe’s biggest Gay Pride. For two weeks – from July 29th till August 6th -, the city of Amsterdam celebrates love outrageously. The Amsterdam canals are fully packed and music spills into every corner. Summarized, a festivity you wouldn’t want to miss. Besides enjoying all the bustle around you, it’s your time to shine when it comes to looks!
During the Pride Amsterdam, a lot of activities and festivities are being held in and around the city center, but the actual event everyone in town is waiting for is the tremendous Canal Parade and its street festivities on Saturday August 5th. The streets and canals are fully packed with party animals dressed in pink and rainbow colored – and sometimes ‘kinky’ – outfits. Music blows into every corner and laughter fills up the city.
How to prepare for Pride Amsterdam?
There is no way you’re joining the hub without a touch of color. In case you haven’t brought your latex suit with you, we are here to help you out and give you a few tips. Firstly, we were kidding. A latex suit isn’t necessary. You may wear one, but you don’t have to! Just make sure you add some rainbow details to your outfit, whether it’s a T-shirt, shorts, boots, sunglasses, nail polish, hair spray, make-up or even socks and leggings. Everything adds up to the Amsterdam look on this specific day. So, head to Dam Feestartikelen just around the or score a fancy legging at Leg-Inc. You may as well bring a bit of Carnival to the table and dress yourself up as Superwoman, a Greek goddess or a Disney princess. In short; wear whatever you feel like, but work your charms! Cause let’s be honest, wouldn’t you like to take part in the Drag Queen Olympics? With main activities such as the Stiletto Sprint and the Handbag Toss, where looks – obviously – matter.
