George, Dishwasher at Casa sinds 2008.
How did you end up at Casa?
The first time I heard about Casa was in 2006. That time, during summer season, I worked in the housekeeping for four months. One of my best friends, Chris, works at Casa as well and convinced me to come back. So, in 2008 I did. He has been working here for 20 years, so there must be something special about Casa. And that’s when I decided to join Casa again.
Why do you work for Casa?
Aaaah… well, I understand my friend Chris now. I really like the place. Besides, it is close to home. I always take the metro since Casa is so close to the Amstel Station. Casa has a good system. I mean, the management is organized well. I receive nice and clean clothes to work in, I have my own locker and there’s always lots of fun in the changing rooms with my colleagues. Yeah, it has become a home for me. I feel very comfortable working for Casa. AND! Very important… *starts laughing* there is a bonus almost every year!
What makes you indispensable at Casa?
In 2010, when Casa moved to a new building, I was the first dishwasher who understand and worked with the new machines. At that time, I could have applied for the Maintenance team as almost everyone asked for my help when machines faced problems or broke down. I was the hero of the day when I solved the problem.
What would you like to tell others about working for Casa?
Working for casa is fun but it’s very hard working too! I’ve learned it takes a lot of patience when it comes to learn and directing everybody the rules and regulations of the dishwashing process! Sometimes colleagues just place their dish everywhere and anywhere and don’t mind making a mess. But the best thing of Casa is that everyone is always smiling to keep you moving and to make others feel comfortable! There is no hierarchy, or at least.. it doesn’t feel like that. You become part of a family when working for Casa.
What’s your best memory of casa so far?
*laughing out loud* 3 years ago we had a company outing. We were enjoying ourselves with a dinner and the usual drinks. Subsequently, we went karting and bowling and everyone was having so much fun. Unfortunately… *laughing*, my colleague Marco didn’t see me coming and bumped straight into me with great speed.
