About the New York Sour
The New York Sour is a captivating cocktail that combines the boldness of whiskey with the sophistication of red wine. This classic concoction begins with a base of bourbon or rye whiskey, offering a rich and robust foundation. What sets it apart is the „sour“ element, which is a mix of fresh lemon juice and simple syrup, adding a tangy twist to the drink. But the real showstopper is the float of red wine that crowns the cocktail, creating a stunning visual effect and imparting a fruity, tannic layer to the flavor profile. A quick cocktail recipe
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
Add the bourbon or rye whiskey, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup to the shaker.
Shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds until well-chilled.
Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice.
Carefully float the red wine on top of the cocktail by pouring it over the back of a spoon or using a cocktail layering tool. It should create a beautiful red layer on top.
Garnish with a lemon twist or cherry.
