Why to stay in A'dam East
Amsterdam is famous for its city centre full of canals and 17th century canal houses. And although it is a must see, and a worthy and pretty area to go for a stroll, staying in Amsterdam East is way more fun. Here’s why:
Amsterdam East: the place to be
Ok, Amsterdam East is mostly being spoken of as the Up & Coming area of Amsterdam. But at this point, we can proudly say that the Amsterdam East area is Up & Running, flooded with hotspots, trendy cafés, good restaurants, art galleries, unique boutiques and lots of greenery. Perfect for a bit of local culture, delicious indulgements and biking! Amsterdam East is for sure one of our favourite areas of the city.
Food & Culture
As said, Amsterdam East is where you’ll immerse yourself in local culture and food fanatic vibes. Neighbourhoods Indische Buurt (The Indonesian Neighbourhoods) and Oosterdok (around Artis Zoo) have increased in popularity a lot. The best food and drinks can be found here such as; number 1 brewery Brouwerij ‘t IJ, cosy tranquil restaurant De Plantage, one of a kind restaurant Bar Botanique, and not to be missed; rooftop terrace GAPP.
Entertainment
The creative scene of Amsterdam can be found in Amsterdam North or – you guessed it right – in Amsterdam East. It’s fresh, exciting and has space for lots of new initiatives. The people around here are open, ambitious and full of ideas, assuring the best is happening in Amsterdam East. Just like Studio/K, for both art house movies, interesting events and a nice bar for some beers.
Greenery & Tranquility
Amsterdam East is not only a bustling piece of Amsterdam. It offers the best of both worlds. Lots of greenery can be found here. The Frankendael Park is a large park, perfect for a game of football or frisbee, or to simply wander through its leafy scenery. The park has a beautiful estate and a wonderful restaurant. And another plus; you’re allowed to barbecue here, which is exceptional in Amsterdam nowadays.
Starting point for exploring Amsterdam
Ok, we’re not here to convince you of just exploring Amsterdam East. We think every part of Amsterdam has its own charm and is worth a visit. When staying at Hotel Casa Amsterdam, in Amsterdam East, you’re only 3 minutes walking away from Amsterdam Amstel Station. Which is the train, metro, tram and bus station.
