Yael Wassen is a visual artist based in Amsterdam who discovered a new form of communication through painting, using colors and shapes as a means of empowerment. Her background in political philosophy lends depth to her abstract works, which express elusive feelings and thoughts. By combining acrylic paintings with other mediums like large fabrics and oil pastels, she creates art that invites personal interpretation and aims to transform vulnerability and sensitivity from a potential burden into a strength.
Yonah de Beer, who runs art studio INSI, believes that art is about expressing the internal world to shape the external one. For Yonah, each artwork captures a moment in a new universe, exploring the human condition in the 21st century through abstract forms. Art represents the conflict between past and emerging universes and carries both artistic and moral responsibilities to continually reassess our perspectives. Yonah’s mission is to encourage others to create, embody, and share art, bringing what is inside out.
Hans van Beukering is a seasoned artist based in Amsterdam, with a background in graphic design, regression therapy, healing, and yoga instruction. Over the past 20 years, he has developed a distinctive painting style using acrylic and oil, characterized by expressive, vibrant, and deeply layered works. Hans enjoys the freedom of creating art for himself, drawing inspiration from photographs and his life experiences. He believes in the transformative power of art and regularly exhibits his work, aiming to inspire and enrich the lives of others.
Fransje Calf, known as Frenchie, is a 30-year-old Amsterdam-based artist who empowers women through her colourful and funky art. Embracing her identity as a “color monster,” she uses pastels to create pieces that bring both happiness and calmness. Inspired by the human body, Fransje’s playful and friendly depictions of nudity aim to help people love their bodies, seeing them as pure art. Her uniquely recognizable and soothing works celebrate the beauty and flow of the female shape, embodying her feminist vision.
With a spotlight on the artists who will bring Hotel Casa to life throughout August, we hope we’ve sparked your curiosity to come and experience the stunning art exhibition they’ve curated at the hotel.
